Elijah Prayer Partners
The Elijah Project is an inter-generational prayer ministry connecting adults and youth in our congregation through consistent, expectant prayer. Students and adults partner together in prayer, rejoicing and giving thanks for the highs and giving comfort and encouragement during the lows.
This year, while letters and digital communication will still be the primary method of encouragement and prayer requests, prayer partners will have opportunities to connect in person at two fellowship events. This ministry blesses youth and adults alike each year.
How does it work? Youth who sign up for the Elijah Project are paired with adults who register as prayer partners. The prayer partners are given contact information so they can communicate through cards, texting or email throughout the school year. Adults are expected to write students at least once per month. Students are encouraged to write back each time they receive a card or gift, but they are expected to send an update at least once per semester.
When are the events? We will have an Elijah Project Christmas Party in December, and for the final event of the school year we will have an Elijah Project Prayer Breakfast. Prayer partners can come to enjoy some fellowship, breakfast and a prayer of gratitude for all God has done through prayer during this school year!
Please sign your child up in the narthex, or text Angela Heath at 731.234.5954 if your childre wants to participate. I hope ALL the kids at FUMC will want to join in on this great experience. After we get the kids signed up, we will connect them with their prayer partners!
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
